The website for controversial social media influencer Andrew Tate’s self-help site The Real World was reportedly hacked this week.
Hackers were able to extract a trove of data from the Tate site — formerly known as University Hustler — that included about 794,000 usernames, 324,382 unique email addresses and public and private chat logs, according to the Daily Dot, which obtained copies given.
The breach was reportedly discovered Thursday in the middle of Tate’s broadcast of his “Emergency Meeting” show at the Rumble, when hackers began flooding the website’s public chat room with emojis.
“The emoji included a transgender flag, a feminist fist, an AI-generated image of Tate wrapped in a rainbow flag, another where his rear is enlarged, and the cat character used in the ‘boykisser’ meme,” according to the Daily Dr. .
It is unclear who is responsible for the breach, but the hackers told the outlet their motive was “hacktivism” and said the Tate’s website was “ridiculously insecure”.
The hackers said they provided the data obtained during the breach to a pair of websites – HaveIBeenPwned, which allows users to track when their personal information has been exposed, and DDoSecets, which publishes hacked documents deemed to be in the public interest.
Memberships for The Real World program start at $50 per month.
Tate bills the site as “the world’s most advanced financial education platform” and claims, “making money is a skill. We’ll teach you how to master it.”
The program supposedly includes lessons on e-commerce, copywriting, crypto and stock investing, and physical fitness, according to the website.
The incident comes months after a separate breach exposed 22 million messages from “Real World” members, according to Cybernews.
Tate, 37, is a former reality TV star and kickboxer who has faced intense scrutiny for expressing misogynistic views online.
He has been banned from multiple social media platforms for violating their anti-hate speech policies.
Tate is facing trial on human trafficking charges in Romania. He was placed under house arrest in August.
