Oh, my needle.
Apple fans who clamored for a pair of the expensive new AirPods Max are calling the headphones a “nightmare” – blaming stubborn Bluetooth connectivity issues and short-lived functionality for their disappointment.
“I love Apple, but AirPods Max are the worst things I’ve ever bought,” one fan complained online, while another called the trendy product “the worst purchase of the year.”
Apple’s discussion forums are filled with entries from disgruntled customers voicing complaints against the devices, while users on social media have found their $549 over-ear headphones to be practically useless.
“@Apple seriously needs to recall these…AirPods Max because they are stuffy,” wrote one frustrated person on X. “I’m on my second pair and they still don’t work. I’m not the only one complaining about this. They literally never connect.”
“Mine is connecting/disconnecting all the time,” complained another X user.
“I know that Apple products are designed for him [break] AFTER [a] a couple of years, but this one is 4 months old,” he said jokingly.
“Absolutely hate the constant Bluetooth issues on #AirPodsProMax,” someone else wrote. “Does anyone else experience this or is it just my damn luck?”
Some Redditors have griped about the fit of the headphones, saying that the headband stretched over a short period of time and caused pain or discomfort.
Others claimed that the “slightest movement” of their head caused the noise output to stop and the headphones to disconnect as well.
One person claimed to have experienced “audio skipping, poor range connection, really loud sounds at the beginning of videos in one ear” and connection problems, despite never damaging the product.
People have become so fed up with the technical issues that they have vowed to completely switch to another company’s product, giving up their AirPods forever.
“Aaaand my AirPods Max are dead again. Worked perfectly for about two weeks and dead as a door mouse,” lamented one person on X. “Well, I guess I’m switching forever to my Sonys now.”
The battery life on the Apple Max headphones must be a joke, bro – apart from the noise cancellation, these headphones are badass. Literally took my brother’s Beat headphones and the battery life is so much better,” complained another.
While Apple did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment, a customer revealed their hack for fixing their AirPods Max headphones in a discussion forum.
“After a frustrating few months with my AirPods Max out of warranty (Audio stops on right earbud before disconnecting and resetting; factory reset attempts to no avail; buttons not working, etc.), I think I finally have them in good working order again and wanted to share the steps I took,” they wrote.
The user advised resetting the AirPods Max by forgetting the headphones in the Bluetooth settings of your personal device – be it smartphone or laptop – and close all devices attached to your iCloud.
Next, initiate a factory reset on AirPods Max by pressing the volume control and digital crown buttons for 15 seconds, followed by cleaning the headphones properly. Next, restart iCloud devices and reset AirPods Max before trying to connect again.
“Your headphones should now be connected and visible on all devices,” they wrote. “Try playing audio from a connected device.”
